Fun Facts about PRD

Video produced by 54 Films in 2017.

  • Peninsula Roller Derby originally established back in 2011 as Peninsula Roller Girls

    • PRD would showcase their bouts at the local Redwood Roller Rink which closed back in 2018 (RIP - Roll In Peace).

    • There were 2 “home” teams (Psychopathogens and Damas de los Muertos) that would compete against each other.

    • There was a chartered “travel” team that athletes would have to try out for. These games would take place all over California and would help the league’s rankings.

  • PRD joined WFTDA in 2015.

  • PRD started a junior’s program from kiddos 7-17 in 2014 called PRP - Peninsula Roller Peeps. As the program grew, we changed the name to PJD - Peninsula Junior Derby. The program closed in 2024.

  • We’ve worked several community events over the years and have volunteered with Second Harvest Food Bank, Peninsula Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, Habitat Restore, blood drives with the Red Cross, Blue Star Moms, Surfrider beach clean ups, and more.

  • There have been many parades we’ve been able to participate in, too! RWC Salsa Fest, July 4th parades in RWC, San Mateo, Millbrae Lunar Parade,

  • In the past, we would create posters and flyer them all around the Peninsula. We had an incredible artist (Dreadzilla) who would draw them from scratch, too! Check out some posters from the past…
